I will show you what it’s like when someone comes to me, listens to my teaching, and then follows it. It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock. When the floodwaters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built. But anyone who hears and doesn’t obey is like a person who builds a house right on the ground, without a foundation. When the floods sweep down against that house, it will collapse into a heap of ruins.

Life Can Slip Away Very Quickly

Does it ever feel like life is slipping away? We spend a lot of time making sure we have a good job, a nice car, a comfortable house, and a good family. But there are moments in our lives where a lot of what we have done starts to slip away. Especially our families have a funny way of turning their back on those who care most about them. And that can leave us feeling hurt and alone. But Jesus reminds us that he can be a firm foundation. He can be with us through these storms. And only when we follow his teachings and trust in Him will we find ourselves on a truly firm foundation.
