Jesus gives hope

Jesus said we are blessed when we are poor, hungry, weeping, and mistreated.

But that doesn’t seem to make sense? We certainly don’t feel very blessed when we are in these kinds of situations. So how is this possible? Jesus’ teaching offers hope by reminding us our present hardships are temporary and do not compare to the joy that will come when we choose to follow him. Instead of dwelling in feelings of defeat, we find hope as we focus on the future promises he made. He says those who are poor now will receive a kingdom in the future. To those who are currently full of sorrow, God will give laughter. And if anyone is persecuted because they follow Jesus, they are not alone and there is a great reward waiting for them. Beyond the pain and struggles of this world there is hope because Jesus has overcome the world.

now listen to these words...

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. -Romans 15:13
